Cost
Lp(a), or lipoprotein(a), is a cholesterol-carrying particle that a standard lipid panel does not report, so it is ordered as its own test. This page covers where to get it measured and what that costs, not what a result means: that is for a clinician. The live price table sits on our Lp(a) page, every heart panel that includes it is on the heart tests page, and every service is ranked on the best blood tests page.
Lp(a) on its own: every seller we track
List price on each seller's own page, then the fee that seller adds, then what one Lp(a) order costs all in. Read on October 31, 2026; cheapest all-in first.
| Seller | List price | Fee on top | One Lp(a) order, all in | Lab | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Labcorp OnDemand | $49.00 | None shown | $49.00 | Labcorp | Labcorp |
| Quest (questhealth.com) | $45.00 | $6.00 physician service fee | $51.00 | Quest | Quest |
| Ulta Lab Tests | $38.95 | $12.95 standard draw fee (its FAQ) | $51.90 | Quest | Ulta test page, Ulta FAQ |
| Request A Test | $49.00 (Labcorp) | $4.00 service fee per order | $53.00 | Labcorp or Quest | Request A Test |
| Walk-In Lab | $49.00 | $6.00 physician fee | $55.00 | Labcorp or Quest | Walk-In Lab |
| Mito Health (non-member) | $16.24 | $15 draw fee per Quest visit (its FAQ) | $31.24 | Quest, Labcorp or BioReference | Mito, Mito FAQ |
| Marek Diagnostics | Not sold on its own | Not applicable | Not applicable | Quest | Marek |
| Personalabs | No Lp(a) test found | Not applicable | Not applicable | Labcorp | Personalabs |
Two notes on the arithmetic. A fee is charged per order or per visit, not per test, so it shrinks as a share of the bill when you add Lp(a) to other tests in the same order. And Mito's headline price is the lowest by far; its FAQ says the checkout price includes "a lab draw fee for each lab visit" and now names the amount per lab (Mito FAQ), so the table shows its all-in figure at Quest.
Quest shows its fee next to every price: the Lp(a) page reads "Physician Service Fee" beside the list price, and says it is "HSA/FSA Accepted" (Quest Lp(a) test). Labcorp's page lists "HSA/FSA: Accepted" and "Test must be taken by purchaser" (Labcorp Lp(a) test). Labcorp was running an October sale when we checked, "Save up to 25% off select tests" (Labcorp OnDemand); we list the regular price.
Memberships and panels that include Lp(a)

Cheapest route, by situation
- You want only Lp(a), once: Mito Health has the lowest all-in price we can confirm once its published draw fee is added. Among the classic lab-test stores, Labcorp OnDemand is lowest, and Quest and Ulta come within about three dollars once their fees are added.
- You want Lp(a) with ApoB and a lipid panel: buy all three in one order at one store, so one fee covers the lot. Our ApoB cost guide prices ApoB the same way, store by store.
- You want a broad panel anyway: a membership or panel that already measures Lp(a) avoids paying for it twice. Our full body blood test cost guide and the price page compare them per measured marker.
Store by store, Quest against Labcorp across every common test, see Quest vs Labcorp OnDemand.
Where you cannot order it yourself
Lab-test stores do not sell in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island; Ulta's FAQ calls them the states where direct access testing is prohibited by law (Ulta FAQ). New York may carve out an exception for this exact test. Senate bill S9172, introduced on February 10, 2026, would let labs run a short list of lipid tests "without a practitioner order or prescription", and the list ends with "LIPOPROTEIN(A) (LP(A))" (NY Senate S9172). The bill sits in the Senate Health Committee and is not law. Until it passes, New Yorkers get Lp(a) through a clinician's order or a membership that sells there; our New York page lists who does and at what price, and ordering your own blood test explains the state rules.
What this page does not do
We do not publish target levels or say what a number means. Lp(a) results are reported in different units by different labs, and what a result means for you is a question for your clinician. If you already have results and want them explained in plain language, LifeFrom, our sister product, does that (lifefrom.ai).
Questions
FAQ
How much does an Lp(a) test cost?
On its own, from just under forty to about fifty-five dollars at lab-test stores once their fees are added, with Labcorp OnDemand lowest among them on October 31, 2026. Mito is lower still once its published draw fee is added; the table shows both. The table above links each seller's page.
Where can I get an Lp(a) test without a doctor?
Through a lab-test store or a membership that supplies the physician order: Labcorp OnDemand, Quest, Ulta Lab Tests, Request A Test, Walk-In Lab and Mito all sell it. Stores do not sell in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, where a clinician's order or a membership is the route.
Is Lp(a) included in a standard cholesterol test?
No. A standard lipid panel reports total, LDL and HDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Lp(a) is a separate test, and even large lab-store panels such as Quest's Elite Health Profile and Labcorp's Advanced Health Panel leave it out.
Which blood test memberships include Lp(a)?
Function Health, Empirical Health, Labs by Hims, Everlywell 360, SiPhox Longevity Essentials, Mito Core and Pro, Marek's Comprehensive panel and Lifeforce include it. Superpower sells it as a paid add-on, and InsideTracker, Rythm and Maximus Optimal leave it out.
Does insurance cover an Lp(a) test?
Coverage depends on your plan and on a clinician ordering it. The services on this page are self-pay, and most of them accept HSA or FSA cards; our [HSA and FSA guide](/guides/hsa-fsa-blood-tests) lists each one's own wording.
What is a normal Lp(a) level?
Ranges and units differ by lab and method, so we do not publish target levels. What a result means for you is a question for your clinician, who can read it alongside your other results and history.
